Description
Class Experience
As a special educator, I understand how to meet learners at their present level of need and how to design lessons which foster skill development as well as self confidence. Each class will focus on a specific skill and will include time for practice as well as for sharing. After each class is complete, I will send one optional worksheet via email which focuses on the skill of the day. Learners are welcome to email it back to me or to share it at the next class if they would like to do...
Students will be guided to increase their writing ability until they are capable of independently writing one well-constructed sentence which contains correct grammar, capitalization and punctuation.
I am a special education teacher in a brick-and-mortar school, and I teach writing every day to students who need extra support to be successful in their academics. In addition, I have a master's degree with an emphasis in literacy and hold a TEFL certification.
These classes are designed to be self-contained; however, students will be given the option to write during off-hours and read their creations during the next lesson if they wish to do so. I strongly suggest that students are given the opportunity to practice free-writing for 5-10 minutes each day. Frequent, short sessions are best to keep interest as well as to develop skill.
All learners will need a pencil and paper for each lesson.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
These classes will not be assessed, but I will gladly provide progress feedback when asked.
25 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
I will use Canva during each lesson to present the material. Students will not need to access this website.
