I am on the student’s time and so we can focus on areas where they need the most help. Though we may focus on areas of improvement, I do affirm students on what they are doing well and we have a conversation about how they can continue that success. I create PowerPoint slides to introduce the content in a way that is broken down and digestible. After the session, the student can use these slides as virtual “study cards”. During the session, I will likely share live document with practice prompts and writing exercising. During the session we will use this document to practice writing and take notes as the session is happening. The student will receive a copy of this document after the session that they can reference it. Afterwards, they will receive two post-session documents that include a session recap, successes, areas of improvement, action plan, recommendations, and outline of what the next tutoring session could look like (if they are interested).
