In this one time 45 minute class, students will explore the art of writing a Personal Narrative about the worst thing they ever tasted using time-order words, writing in the first person, sequence of events and visual descriptive details.

Students will meet with the teacher in a live interactive video class. Students will write individually and share their writing and ideas with the class if they choose to. This class will discuss the steps involved in writing a personal narrative including time-order words and phrases, transition words, prewriting, adding visual details and revisions. Students will write a personal narrative about the worst thing they ever tasted. Using their own experiences, students will build their own narrative following step by step instruction provided by the teacher, with lots of room for creativity.
Learning Goals
By writing through real life experiences and the worst thing they ever tasted, students will improve their understanding of writing a personal narrative. They will be introduced to writing in the first person, showing a sequence of events with time-order words and transitions. We will discuss the helpfulness of the prewriting process to gather and organize ideas. This class also stresses the importance of description in every piece of writing to create something that readers want to read.

Students will need a writing tool of choice (pen, pencil, colored pencils) and paper to write on.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
