Class Experience

In this quiet, relaxing, and conversational class students will join me for a cup of tea and a peek into the magical and creative world of one of America’s most beloved author-illustrators of children’s literature - Tasha Tudor.

We'll learn about her love of animals (did you know she once had a pet crow?) and plants, her art, and her beautifully illustrated books. Tasha was an avid gardener and had a love of dolls, and miniatures, too... so we'll talk about her eccentric life on an old fashioned farm, and her beautiful dollhouse and its many tiny treasures.

During the class students will try their hands at creating their own versions of some of Tasha's art in the form of illustrations for greeting cards for their own "Sparrow Post."

Students are also encouraged to bring a favorite doll to join us in class.

Scheduling notes:
December classes will focus a little extra on Tasha's Christmas/Winter themed illustrations.
February classes will focus on making tiny Valentines.
August 28th classes will be scheduled as special celebrations of Tasha's birthday!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Tasha Tudor has been a life-long inspiration for my work. I grew up reading her beautiful books, and learned many of my long practiced artistic skills based on her own lifestyle that cultivated a deep respect for heritage craft. I currently consult as a domestic and textile historian for Great Smokey Mountain Heritage Center, where I strive to communicate a sense of understanding and honor for the balance of practical hard work infused with great beauty that is a hallmark times past.
