The Word Wizards: Creative Writing Club for Ages 10-13

The students will let their imaginations soar by responding to a fun writing prompt! Each session will begin with an ice breaker so everyone can get to know each other a bit. Then, the students will participate in a mini writing lesson slideshow where we focus on writing elements such as structure, vocabulary, grammar, punctuation, and more. The students will be given an engaging writing prompt to respond to. They will have time to write independently. Following their independent writing, the students will have the option to share their work with their classmates. We will end each session with a short game to help students wind down after an awesome learning session. 

Some sample writing prompts:
-Write a story about a robot who becomes your best friend. 
-There is a dolphin in your bathtub. How did it get there, and how do you get it back home to the ocean?
-The chicken finally tells you why it crossed the road. What is the secret? 
-What do you wish to invent? What would it do? Write a story about it. 


Upon request, I can review and make suggestions to a student's writing prompt from class if submitted to me afterwards.
