55 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
Claymation is a multi-faceted medium with a lot of moving parts. Over the course of this hour- the instructor will touch on some critical figures in the animation movement that got us to where we are- such as Lotte Reiniger, Will Vinton, and Jim Henson. Students will have a chance to learn about different techniques for working with armature, clay, plasticine, or puppets, and some technical aspects such as types of cameras and useful editing software will be touched on if time and interest permits. Class content will include discussion, slideshows, and appropriate youtube videos (such as behind the scenes videos from Coraline and Nightmare Before Christmas).

Teacher expertise and credentials
Not only do I live in Oregon, where Will Vinton and his family resided, but I have a special love for stop motion features- including the Nightmare Before Christmas, Coraline, Beetlejuice and even the California Raisins, which are also historically important parts of the discussion of stop motion. It's neat when history and personal interest intersect.
