Students will improve their nature photography skills and learn about nature.
As a naturalist and nature photographer, I’m constantly learning about the world around me and want to encourage others to connect and learn with nature too! I believe nature photography is a great way to cultivate curiosity about the love of nature. I also believe that you don’t need fancy equipment to take an incredible shot. You can use what’s available and adjust accordingly.
Students need to be prepared before class by having their nature photographs ready to share. Feel free to take pictures of any plant, flower, and animal in their immediate environments. Using a cell phone or tablet will work best for in-class sharing.
Itching to take nature pictures but don't know where to start? Then try out the "Bug Safari" attached below and see if you can find all of these common arthropods in your area! This is an activity to encourage you to go outside and find bugs, but is by no means required. Feel free to take pictures of any plant, flower, and animal in their immediate environments. Disclaimer: BE CAREFUL when looking for bugs in your area. Some of you may live in regions with dangerous insects, centipedes, and arachnids. Under no circumstances should you touch a specimen with which you are unfamiliar.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
