The myths of Ancient Greece are some of the most famous in the world, being used as inspiration for countless movies, TV shows, books, and many other creative arts. With well-known heroes such as Achilles, Heracles, and Perseus, it's easy to see why. In this class, we will be learning about some of the lesser-written about figures in Greek mythology: The Women of Ancient Greece. This class will be primarily lecture-style with an animated PowerPoint, and students will be able to discuss what they like or dislike about each figure. Students are highly encouraged to ask questions throughout the class. We will be talking about the following: The Tragic Royals: Clytemnestra Cassandra Electra The Romantics: Ariadne Penelope Atalanta The Magic Ones: Oracle of Delphi (Pythia) Arachne Circe The Mothers: Hecuba Danaë Io The Warrior Queens: Harpalyce Camilla Myrina **Students are not expected to be familiar with Greek Mythology, but they should be enthusiastic about or interested in the subject. Students will be expected to participate in class discussions, and must have a working microphone and camera.**

Students will learn about different women mentioned in the myths of Ancient Greece, and how they impacted the stories.

Greek Myths often discuss violent action/war scenarios, death, infidelity, and crimes/revenge.
