The Wind in the Willows is a classic tale of friendship, adventure, and loyalty. In this course, students will read the unabridged version of the tale, while practicing their retelling skills both orally and in writing. The students will also reflect on the characters and how they grow and change throughout the story. By the end of the course, learners will have created a portfolio of completed character maps, written summaries, and pictures to retell the key events. During class - Students will listen to a portion of a chapter while drawing or coloring a picture of a character or scene. Each student will have an opportunity to retell what they have heard orally, or participate in a collaborative written summary. They will also have an opportunity to share their drawings and opinions about the characters and events from the story. In between classes - Students will finish reading the week's chapter (independently or by listening to an audiobook/adult read it aloud), and complete a drawing or written retelling (narration) to share with the class during the next live meeting.
