Class Experience

During some downtime between adventures, the party is approached by a frantic sheep with a magical scroll. Hijinks ensue when the party gets involved in a magical grudge match between transmutation wizards. Can the party put an end to one wizard's terrible transmutation tyranny in order to restore an innocent wizard to his true form? Or will he be out to pasture for the rest of his days? Let's find out in A Wild Sheep Chase!

Dungeons and Dragons is a collaborative role playing game in which players must work together, solve puzzles, and think critically. D&D requires some basic math skills, social interaction, and lots of imagination! As this adventure is for both beginner and experienced players, I will be providing some pre-made 1st level character options for the players to choose between.

We will start the session with introductions, a brief overview of D&D as a whole, choosing characters, and then we'll dive right into the game! The game will take place over the course of 2 hours and 45 minutes, with a 15-minute break roughly halfway through.

Important note: As this is a cooperative experience, there will be no PvP (player vs player) content, and no evil characters.

This course requires a small amount of knowledge on how to play Dungeons and Dragons, but not much else. We will play on a platform called Roll20, which is a "virtual table top" website, used for playing D&D online. No account is required, as I will be sharing the screen.

The adventure "A Wild Sheep Chase" was created by Winghorn Press, and has received high acclaim in the D&D community. Some aspects have been altered slightly to assist in ensuring the adventure can be completed within the given time.
Learning Goals
Students will hone in on social skills like teamwork and collective problem solving.

Parental Guidance
Dungeons and Dragons games vary widely on content, and can go from zero mature content to vastly mature. While running any games on Outschool, I will be staying far from all mature stuff. It does involve violence, as D&D is known for combat as well as role-playing, but I won't be using any grotesque, visceral descriptions of things.
Supply List
While I will be supplying pre-made characters, it would be a good idea for each student (or household in the case of multiple participants) to have a copy of the Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition Player's Handbook. This is an incredible, all but essential resource for anyone looking to play and understand how to play D&D.
It is also not required to have a set of D&D dice, as I am a proper dice goblin myself and can roll for players. However, it's never too early or late to start collecting the pretty math rocks!

Teacher expertise and credentials
I don't believe this is a sensitive or high risk topic, but I have been playing D&D for several years now, and have run several games.
