Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a certified elementary educator with over 8 years of classroom experience, primarily focused on reading and English Language Arts for grades 3–5. I currently teach 4th grade ELA in Kentucky and serve as my school’s curriculum lead for upper elementary literacy. I will also be LETRS certified by the end of the year, which reflects my deep commitment to research-based reading instruction, especially for struggling readers and students with dyslexia.
My passion for literacy grew even stronger when my own child was diagnosed with dyslexia. This personal journey led me to explore structured literacy programs like UFLI and The Wild Robot has become one of my favorite books to use for building comprehension and vocabulary in a fun, meaningful way.
I’ve led numerous small group book clubs in the classroom, helped students develop a love of reading, and supported their growth through engaging discussions, vocabulary exploration, and text-based responses. I strive to create a welcoming space where all learners feel confident, supported, and excited to read.
