Why can't penguins fly? Why do people get sick? Do animals have DNA? Why is our galaxy called the Milky Way? In this class we will answer these questions AND MORE! Bring your own questions and come be curious with us!
Class Experience
Let's open up the most common question of all students and children: WHY? We will cover topics in science, history, health, and more! In this class, our goal is to foster exciting curiosities. We will open our world and minds up to new possibilities, understandings, and enlightenment. This will take us to the realm of thinking DEEPER than typical surface level contemplations. No matter what the setting: online, home education, or a full classroom, this course is a place of EXPLORATION....
All my sources used will be appropriate, I will provide different viewpoints when possible, and only use scholarly research methods (as I learned in college) when providing POSSIBLE ANSWERS to these learners questions. Specifically I intend to stick to Britannica and National Geographic. Some answers (such as, why are cats afraid of cucumbers) could have simple but multiple answers where I will leave the learner to decide which one they think makes the most sense. I do not wish to steer learners any direction but to provide multiple avenues of thought on the WHY to a single question and the rest is for them to decide! (=
Nothing is required to take this class
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
The goal of this class is to ask light, fun, simple questions. If a learner asks any question that requires an answer but is not appropriate (sexual nature, religious, etc) I will direct them to a parent and/or notify the parent of that concern. It is not my place to educate on things of personal natures, private matters, or family matters nor will I do so here.
