Class Experience

Q: What kind of dog does a magician have?
A: A Labracadabrador!

If you find that joke to be funny, if you have a silly itch that needs to be scratched, if you have a goofy streak that needs expression, well....

...this might just be the friendship group for you!!

Each week, we'll get together to enjoy each other's company as well as build friendship and social skills with a focus on being funny, silly, and goofy. Maybe we'll come up with silly names for ourselves. Mine might be Avery because then, when matched with my last name, I'll be "a very small man."

Get it?

That's how this works! We'll play with words, tell jokes, and play games. You're free to come in costume if you want and to have fun with backgrounds, filters, and avatars.

The one overriding principle is that we behave respectfully toward others. Pranks, put-downs, and offensive jokes are not permitted. But we don't need those to be goofy together, right?!

As an ongoing class, students can participate once or multiple times. Each week's session will be unique because of the people present and the new experiences they are having in their lives. As such and because we'll be relying on spontaneity, there aren't weekly session topics to schedule or anticipate. This could therefore be seen as a "learner-led" course, one in which I, as facilitator, respond to what the students present each session. The nature of this class is to respectfully build on the unpredictability of being goofy, following where that will lead us each week.

A NOTE ABOUT THE COST OF THIS CLASS:

I know the price of my classes is higher than many others on Outschool. As an experienced and talented educator, I believe I'm worth this amount and invite you to look at my reviews. That said, I don't want any family to be priced out of what I offer. Whatever your financial situation, if you're interested in one or more of my classes, please reach out and let me know what you can afford. I can provide coupons, refunds, and/or reductions, and am confident we can find an equitable rate that works for you and me.
Learning Goals
Not only will the students get to express their goofiness and learn how to do it in appropriate ways (an important life skill!), in the process they'll learn friendship-building strategies, recognize how to help maintain positive group dynamics, and feel good about themselves and their contributions.
