Interested in learning more about the history of all of us? Have you heard of The Underground Railroad but want more information about the topic? Ever wondered how the actions of a few can spark change to impact many? This course will cover the history and legacy of the Underground Railroad. We will discuss central figures within the movement to free enslaved Africans along with lesser-known individuals that helped make the escapes possible. This class will highlight and focus on how the acts of groups and individuals can make a difference in the lives of others. We will also discuss ways we can help others today. Through the use of interactive tools, we will take a trip along the route and learn about the brave individuals that risked everything to help those searching for freedom. This class is open to all students between the ages of 8-11, regardless of current historical knowledge.
