US Grade 8 - 11
In this three-day camp, learners will be taught what MLA is, why it is used, and how to use it. Each learner will be provided handouts they can use for ANY essay they write in the future. I will demonstrate how to paraphrase and cite information correctly using both parenthetical and in-text citations. Learners will also be shown how to set up an essay in proper MLA formatting as well as compiling a Works Cited page. -All of these skills are imperative for proper formal essay writing and are required to know if a learner plans to attend college. -MLA formatting is universal and used worldwide. It was created so that writers give credit where credit is due and do not jeopardize themselves by plagiarizing their essays. -It will be assumed that if a student attends college, they know the MLA rules and use them. It is not something a college professor will teach!
Learning Goals
Students will understand what MLA is, why it is important, and how to cite information properly using the MLA rules.
