Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
Students will improve their understanding of the topics tested on the AP Calculus AB Exam specifically derivatives and their applications.
I have taught AP Calculus AB before in the classroom and in small group settings online. I am an experienced and award winning high school teacher as well as an experienced Calculus tutor for over 10 years. When I took the AP Calculus exam back when I was in high school I got a 5 on the exam (the highest possible grade) so I know what it takes to get a 5. Since then I have helped hundreds of students pass the exam.
There will be a problem set (usually 10 problems) assigned each week including extra practice on topics taught that week that students will complete individually. Each student will be responsible for creating a short video each week presenting one of the problems from the problem set. The problem set will include AP Calculus AB practice exam problems as well.
Problem sets, guided notes, and all materials needed will be provided. Only things you need are paper, writing utensil, and a calculator (graphing preferably).
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Student is assessed on homework (problem sets), in class clicker problems, discovery assignments, and weekly problem set video presentations. I also include two optional formal assessments one after week 3 and one at the end of the course.
2 hours per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
If you think your student has prior knowledge and can skip ahead to part 3 please send me a message and I can help you find the best fit for your student.

We will use some third party online math tools that Outschool has yet to add to their list of approved resources. At no time will your student have to make an account with any of these outside resources and they are free to use. I use Socrative for clicker questions during live lectures and I use desmos teacher activities I have personally created as well as encourage students to use desmos outside of class while they are working on their problem sets. Desmos is a great online free alternative to a graphing calculator.
All materials for this course will be provided.
