Class Experience

Have you ever wondered why Star Wars is so popular around the entire world?

One of the many reasons is that the characters and stories call upon ancient myths and archetypes that deeply speak to us.

In this teacher led, fun five session, interactive class we will discuss the myths, philosophies, and Samurai warrior culture that helped create the world of Star Wars, and why it speaks to countless people around the world. Students will be able to analyze and identify how these influences shaped world famous movie characters (Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Yoda, Rey etc...etc...) and story lines that make up the Star Wars universe.

Please note - When teaching this class, I will simplify the material, make it easily digestable, and age appropriate.

Course Schedule:
First Class - The Hero's Journey (example, Luke Skywalker's story line)
Second Class - Jedi Knights (The Samurais)
Third Class - The Force (Mindfulness)
Fourth Class - Myths (Greek, Roman, and King Arthur)
Fifth Class - Bringing it All Together, Wrap Up Exercises, Graduation Ceremony

No background knowledge is needed to enjoy and succeed in this class.

The class format will be:
An interactive, conversational, teacher led discussion, using educational and entertaining slides.

Q and A sessions, allowing the students to express their thoughts and opinions on this lesson. (If they choose to, not mandatory.)

To solidify the individual lessons, learners will begin to create their own Star Wars characters/storylines incorporating what was just taught.

All classes will close out with “Star Wars Jeopardy”.

There is no formal HW. However, it would be beneficial and fun to rewatch certain Star Wars movies/scenes, so the learners can identify the themes discussed in class, and the connections to ancient myths.

May the force be with you,
