In this adventure, players will make their way through a tavern that has been converted into an adventurer training course, in order to prepare new heroes for the dangers they may face on their quests. The class will be a normal Dungeons and Dragons session following 5th edition rules. I will be the Dungeon Master, in charge of rules and keeping the session fun! Students will have to work with their teammates to solve puzzles, fight monsters, and make their way out of The Thunderlock Barcrawl. Parents are welcome to look up the adventure, but please do not spoil the surprises for the players. The first 10 minutes of the class will be dedicated to introductions, both introducing ourselves and the characters we will be playing, as well as some general rules. The rest of the class will be dedicated to playing through the adventure.
Learning Goals
Students will learn key problem solving skills in a fun and supportive environment.
Students will learn how to work with a team and co-operate with each other in order to achieve an end goal.
Students will be encouraged to explore creativity through performing or role playing as their character.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Dungeons and Dragons inherently includes fantasy violence. Students will be fighting monsters, but I will never encourage students to enact that violence towards other persons in game.
Supply List
Required Materials : A 5th edition character levels 1-4 only, set of dice (1d4; 1d6; 1d8; 1d10; 1d100; 1d20), pencil, and scrap paper. If you do not have dice, there are plenty of free apps you can use if you do not wish to buy a set. Otherwise, sets can be purchased easily through Amazon or comic book/board game stores. It is recommended that the student has a basic understanding of the game, but it is not required as I can teach them as we go along. If this is your child's first introduction to the game, then I would recommend at least reading the Basic Rules. I have also provided links to some free materials including the Essential Rule Book.

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a professional actor by trade, but in my spare time, I enjoy cooking, reading plays, playing Dungeons and Dragons with my friends, and now running D&D sessions on Outschool!
While my classes focus on the game, Dungeons & Dragons, there is a strong emphasis on community, support, and encouragement. Dungeons & Dragons is a great tool for students to explore their creativity, individuality, learn teamwork and problem solving skills. The goal of each of my classes is not just to have fun, but learn and practice these things in a supportive environment where all are welcome!
I have a variety of one time adventures, to multi-class stories, to on-going adventurers. We also offer courses on writing your own D&D adventures, painting miniatures for your D&D games and other tabletop games, and classes on being a Dungeon/Game Master for tabletop RPGs (TTRPGs).
