In this 14 time course we will read a book together; each week identifying vocabulary words, checking for comprehension, and doing a writing exercise inspired by the content read to enrich the experience.

US Grade 2 - 5
The book 'Comfort Town: The Three Comforteers' by Jackie Cupp Coleman will be shared online by the teacher.  I am the author of the book.  Since I am providing the story through screen share the students will not be purchasing the book.

Meeting 1:  Vocabulary – A list of words and definitions will be discussed
 read chapters 1-2 : each student may choose to take a turn reading aloud or just listen
	Make a Venn – we will compare and contrast Hughey and Reg

Meeting 2:  Vocabulary – A list of words and definitions will be discussed
 read chapters 3-4
	Make a Venn – compare and contrast Hughey, Reg, and Frannie

Meeting 3: A list of words and definitions will be discussed
	Read chapters 5-6
	Make puns – each student will make puns about their own interests

Meeting 4:  Vocabulary – A list of words and definitions will be discussed
 read chapters 7
	Make alliteration each student will make phrases featuring alliteration.  Tongue Twisters can be shared.

Meeting 5:  Vocabulary – A list of words and definitions will be discussed
 read chapters 8-9
	‘What calms me’ haiku.  Students will count syllables to describe the way they find peace.

Meeting 6:  Vocabulary – A list of words and definitions will be discussed
 read chapters 10-11
	Students will choose a sport or activity to write a poem about.

Meeting 7:  Vocabulary – A list of words and definitions will be discussed
 read chapters 12-13
	A summary will be written by each student and shared. 

Meeting 8:  Vocabulary – A list of words and definitions will be discussed
	Read chapters 14-15
	Students will describe a time something made them sore.

Meeting 9:  Vocabulary – A list of words and definitions will be discussed
 read chapters 16-17
	Horse therapy – Students will list the approaches detailed and the positive effects.

Meeting 10:  Vocabulary – A list of words and definitions will be discussed
	Read chapters 18-19
	Describe a team you’ve been on.
 
Meeting 11:  Vocabulary – A list of words and definitions will be discussed
 read chapter 20
	Students can share nicknames; they will write a poem about veterans.

Meeting 12:  Vocabulary – A list of words and definitions will be discussed
 read chapters 21-22
	Students will share jokes Justin would enjoy. 

Meeting 13:  Vocabulary – A list of words and definitions will be discussed
 read chapters 23-24
	Students write poems about feelings of panic or what causes them.

Meeting 14:  Vocabulary – A list of words and definitions will be discussed
	Read chapters 25-26
	Write a summary of the book.
