I have been a Dungeon Master for over 40 years, and have brought many new players, of all ages, into the game. I have also been a police officer for 30 years and worked with youth under the best and worst of conditions. This game will be led by me and it will be age appropriate for those that participate. I have completed Phase One- Games to Grow Program for the theaputic application of games, and Outschools own training of "The G Word" , both programs giving me a better understanding of the neurodiverse world we live in.
This class will have no assigned homework. The learner will be expected to keep track of their character and to update it as needed. If your Learner misses a section please have them email me a few days before the next section they want to participate in and I will let they know how to update their character and what to expect on their return.
1 file available upon enrollmentLearners will be give access to the digital players's Handbook and electronic dice as part of their free account with D&D Beyond. So make sure that you are signed up with that free account. I will send out invites to join my campaign link once enrolled.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
If the student has any questions as to their performance, or what they could do better please have them send me a email, otherwise Dungeon and Dragons is an ever progressing game and players are constantly learning about the fantasy world and themselves. No grading of the class will be done.
2 hours per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Fantasy combat and spell useage is a integrated part of Dungeons and Dragons, and will be present in this class. The material will be age appropriate. There is always risk of the death of the fantasy character your Learner has created. It goes with the actions have consequences theme of Dungeons and Dragons. If this happens do not worry. Your Learner will be permitted to create a new one and rejoin the fun. Learners will need a free account on the website "Dungeons and Dragons Beyond", this account will need to be linked to my campaign world created just for this class and open only to its members. This site allows me to manage characters, and gives us an electronic dice-rolling feature that allows us to see what each of us roll as we play the game. It also gives learners to the full edition of the D&D 5e Player's Handbook that is shared from my account.
No outside apps or websites will be used for this class. Only the normal secure resources of Outschool will be used.
