Description
Class Experience
During this class, students will learn how to read closely using the suspenseful text “The Tell-Tale Heart” by Edgar Allan Poe. We will first discuss what it means to complete a close read of the text. I will read the entire text aloud with learners while displaying each chunk on a slide show. While reading, we will stop periodically to discuss vocabulary, make predictions, cite evidence, ask questions and talk about the text, as well as reflect on the ending of the story. (reading...

I have been teaching middle school Reading and Language Arts for more than 19 years. I specialize in reading skills/strategies, teaching writing, and working with students at their own individual levels.
Paper and pencil will be needed for this course.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Violence: Murder, dismemberment, and concealing the body. This is a classic Edgar Allan Poe short story, many of which have similar dark themes, images, and storylines.
