Book clubs encourage critical thinking and deeper engagement with stories, provide accountability in reading and reading comprehension, promote a love for literature in a positive and nurturing environment, and provide an opportunity to socialize with new people! The Teenage Book Club will provide a safe space for teenagers where they can openly discuss the book of the week! Weekly Agenda -Greetings/Introductions -Fun review of book of the week -Making text connections -Discussion questions about the book of the week -Sketch that scene (learners will have five minutes to sketch a scene from the novel) OR Song to the scene (learners will find a song that connects to a scene from the novel) -Trailer for the next book -Closing Weekly Novels Week of 10/14- Ghost by Jason Reynolds Week of 10/21- Patina by Jason Reynolds Week of 10/28- Sunny by Jason Reynolds Week of 11/4- Lu by Jason Reynolds Be sure to read the book of the week BEFORE class in order to receive the most out of our live sessions! Parental Guidance
The novels are a part of a series, however each novel stands on its own. Reading the previous novel is not needed in comprehending the current text.
