In this four week course readers will learn about the magic of a modern day fairytale. They will see characters come to life as each page turns. They will learn about the themes of the book: love, hope, forgiveness and chivalry. The characters will come in contact with villains, humans, mice and even rats. Readers will find pieces of themselves in each character. We will discuss how our hearts share a lot of the same feelings as the characters. Readers will have empathy for the characters...
Readers will be given ideas or skills to think about or focus before the next class. For example: what's the difference between mice and rats? or make a tally mark for each mention of light and each mention of darkness.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
We will use Kahoot to answer comprehension questions at the end of classs.
