Class Experience

Mechanical Engineering- Week one- 

In this week of class, we will be discussing what a Mechanical Engineer is and what they do for their job! Mechanical engineers are some of the most diverse engineers. They can have jobs in tons of different industries! We will focus on the design aspect in Mechanical Engineering by building our very own balloon propelled car!

Week 1
Supply list: 
8 paper or styrofoam plates 
A rectangle or square piece of cardboard (this will be the center of our car 
1 regular sized balloon 
Tooth picks 
Glue 
Drinking Straw

Week  2:
Supply List: 
Empty bottle with a lid (like a soda bottle or water bottle) (clear works best)
Vegetable oil or olive oil 
Food Coloring (two different colors)
Funnel to make it easier to pour 
Alka Seltzer Antacid Tablet


Week 3:
Supply list:
Printer paper 
Pencil 

Week 4:
Mini marshmallows
Toothpicks

1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.

Students will be using a variety of crafting supplies and supervision is recommended
