Class Experience

Students will understand the components of storytelling, and how to find inspiration from a variety of sources.
For the past ten years I have been working as an actor, improviser, teaching artist, and theatre artist in the Philadelphia area. In that time I have taught playwriting in schools across the Philly region and I am so excited to be able to bring all the activities and exercises I love to Outschool.
There is no formal homework for this class. Students are invited to continue writing throughout the week and can receive digital feedback.
Students should come to class prepared with something to write with - for most students a word document on their computer will be the most useful. We may use external sites such as mentimeter, peardeck, kahoot!, and nearpod. All of these resources are free to access.
Students will receive digital feedback outside of class, and verbal feedback during class discussions if they choose to share their writing.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
All prompts will be school appropriate and family friendly. Students are free to write about anything they like, any content that might be inappropriate for sharing in a group can be shared virtually via outschool messaging. The writing of students is not censored, but any sharing will be monitored for content.
