Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
Beginner Level
Welcome to an amazing art adventure where an angry wizard is trying to ruin Christmas! Are you ready to save the day?

Join us on a magical journey as we dive into a fun escape room-style art class. Our mission? Rescue Rudolph, Santa's special reindeer, who's been trapped inside Vincent van Gogh's mesmerizing painting, "The Starry Night," by the furious wizard.

But here's the twist! You'll unravel the art lesson step by step, unlocking each level of the escape room as we go. While answering questions and solving puzzles, you'll unleash your inner artist to create a holiday masterpiece inspired by Van Gogh's style.

Throughout this exciting quest, we'll discover interesting facts about Vincent Van Gogh's life and explore his fantastic artwork. But that's not all! Ever wondered about the true story behind Rudolph's tale and those catchy reindeer songs? We'll uncover those mysteries too, sprinkled with some cool reindeer facts.

Oh, and get ready for some giggles! We'll share loads of silly jokes along the way.

This creative project consists of two parts: the background and the main subject. Craft your scene and bring it to life by cutting out and pasting the subject onto the background.

After completing your artwork, you'll have a chance to showcase it to the class and share any exciting facts you've learned. No worries if you can't finish during our live class; there's no pressure! You can always complete your artwork in your own time.

A video of our class will also be available within 24 hours, just in case you miss anything or want to revisit the fun.

Remember, everyone works at their own pace, and that's totally okay! Young artists should enjoy the process without feeling rushed. If you need more time, take it! Your creativity matters most.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am an artist and photographer specializing in fine art, photography, and art education. In addition, I have been a homeschool educator for 16 years. I have taught children's art classes privately and through local after school and children's museum programs. Her photography has appeared in Parents Magazine and numerous photography blogs. I enjoy finding connections between things that don't seem connected upon first glance. To do that, I divide things down to their simplest parts and look for similarities. As a result I am able to break down seemingly complicated projects into simple step by step lessons. I also have a great appreciation for irony in art and life and try to infuse humor and silliness in my lessons and in my own work as well.
