In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn the power of air pressure. Utilizing a series of videos, questions, and demonstrations, students will learn how we use the power of air pressure in our everyday lives. Topics to be covered include: Atmospheric pressure How are we affected by being at the bottom of an ocean of air? Weather What are millibars and how do they affect the weather? Aerodynamics How do take advantage of air pressure to fly? Space What does no air pressure mean...
This class is taught in English.
Students will learn about atmospheric pressure and how it affects us every day. They will learn how we utilize air pressure to our advantage when it comes to predicting the weather and flying airplanes.
A one-page outline with a list of supplies will be provided before the class. All items a generally found in a typical household. Items to include: - Small cup with water - Bowl larger than the cup - Index card - Plastic bottle - Piece of paper - Balloon - Straw - Ziploc bag.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
All content is appropriate for the target age range.
