In this Spanish Immersion meeting we will practice our conversational Spanish with a group of friends through show & tell, discussions and other activities. Please note: This is not a beginner class. This class is for Spanish maintenance.

What will be taught? This class is designed to provide a space for fluent/bilingual (Spanish/English) speakers to practice Spanish with peers. Meetings will be conducted in full immersion. What topics will you cover? Students will bring something to share in each class. Topics will be left to the learner's choice, based on their particular interests. This class is taught in Spanish.
Learners will practice conversational Spanish for maintenance. Learners will gain confidence in speaking in Spanish. Learners will increase Spanish vocabulary, fluency and perfect pronunciation.
Maestra Zia is a native Spanish speaker and has two degrees from the University of Puerto Rico. She lived on the island for over 20 years and has worked with the Department of Education there teaching children from Kindergarten through High school. She has also successfully raised fully bilingual children of her own. Maestra Zia greatly enjoys providing simultaneous interpretation for the Hispanic and English-speaking community where she lives.
Each week, students should identify something they would like to share with the class and have an idea of details they can share about that item/thing.
A notebook to use as a journal (preferably without lines), pencil and markers. Students will draw in this notebook each class.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
