Class Experience

This event will be an opportunity for learners to celebrate their friendships in the Sisterhood with a fun scavenger hunt, fictional writing (see examples below), and show & tell. Like the usual weekly class, this one-time special event is a safe space and is designed for learners who are currently into creative writing and storytelling. Writing workshop topics can be responded to with POETRY, FICTION, or PERSONAL NARRATIVE - writer’s choice. This group promotes creativity, empowerment, and confidence through voluntary sharing of work.

All are welcomed to join us - but this class is particularly recommended for girls.

CAMERAS ON FOR A SAFE SPACE
Learners are required to have working cameras in the “on” position for the duration of class. Class is SAFER and more engaging. Please make sure your learner arrives with camera on. Black screens do not promote trust in a group.

SAMPLE WORKSHOP
This is the most inspirational hour I spend each week. The best way I can describe it is an hour of non-stop smiling. The writers in this group welcome new members into their writing family. I don’t reveal my topics each week before class but here’s a sample of a past class.

FICTION:
Scene building using one of the following - two characters sitting at the end of a bridge, a foot chase, or a character talking to a gravestone. Use the list of scene building characteristics provided to guide your writing.

POETRY:
A morning sunrise with different shades of brilliant colors, goodbyes, death, disappointment, or a 10 line poem about things you'll never understand.

PERSONAL OBSERVATION:
Why do some people need “control?”

RANT:
People who don’t value your time.
