The Shot Heard Round the World
Class experience
This one-time class will teach students the fascinating events that led to the "shot heard round the world" as well as the events that immediately followed. The people and countries as they existed in 1775 will also be a topic of study during this lesson. Students will be given the opportunity to learn through discussion, active note-taking, and a trivia game that will be played at the end of class. Students will learn what was happening in the 13 American colonies in 1775, as well as what the relationship between Great Britain and America was like. Students will understand why this event was so important and what events happened as a result. In addition to studying facts about the "shot heard round the world," students will also learn about a poem written about the event.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a declared minor in Psychology. I have completed multiple history courses on U.S. History as well as Western Civilization. I am a history fanatic and especially love teaching American History.
2 files available upon enrollmentA handout will be available to print before class. Student's will also need a pen or pencil and some scratch paper for the trivia game.
Parents should be advised that there will be some discussion about the Battle of Lexington. I do not intend, however, to discuss violent elements in detail.
