Congratulations. You have been invited to join our very secret society, and this class is your interview. If you would like to become a member of the Secret Society of Odd Behaviours, you will need to complete a small number of challenges to prove that you are silly and unusual enough to join. Our society is only for those who have mastered the fine art of being peculiar. When you log in, you will be greeted by a POLITE RECEPTIONIST who will check that you are all ready, before the Interview begins with Jonny. You will be tested on your ability to create awkward silence, to work with other peculiar children on challenges, to pull strange faces and to tell funny stories. If you think you have got what it takes, here is what you need to do for the interview: Dress up smartly - you want the job right? Be ready to let your personality out Have some random objects with you Bring a piece of fruit please - we need it. In the ‘interview’, children will take part in a range of activities, which will vary depending on how many children are in the class. These may include: - Try Not To Laugh challenges - joke-telling - unusual faces and animal noises - ventriloquism - awkward silence creation/toleration - impressions - funny walks - other challenges that don’t require resources. If you are successful, you can become a member of our weekly Secret Society of Odd Behaviour Members' Club meetings, where we discuss the joys and challenges of whimsy and oddity. *Parents… this class is about encouraging your child to develop their self-confidence, social skills and humour. More than anything, it is about giving them a fun opportunity to engage in an eccentric role play that lets them act silly and have a laugh. But it is serious fun, quietly showing them how to tell stories in ways that are entertaining, and developing their ability to listen and take turns, through a drama exercise of a job interview. Mostly the fun though. ** Whilst this class is designed to let the silliness out, I emphasise at the beginning that we must all give each other time to speak and share. Your child will be heard. As an experienced primary teacher, with experience supporting children with additional needs, I am confident that I am able to manage this slightly anarchic class structure.

Supply List
The idea of the class is that it is a mock job interview for a secret society. It would be very funny if we can all dress smart, as if we are going for a job interview. Formal outfits and informal behaviour make a classic combination (see: Mr Bean). Not essential though, of course. Children should bring a random group of objects with them - the more random the better. These will be used as props. A piece of fruit would be great.
