What does sleep mean? It is just when animals lie down and close their eyes? In this one-time class, students will discover all the unusual ways animals have adapted to be able to sleep. We will cover a variety of animals; birds, mammals, reptiles, and view the ways they sleep in order to live. Did you know that the way an animal's body is shaped changes it's sleep? I have been the Coordinator for a hospital-based sleep disorders lab for the last 14 years and am a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist. I have worked with thousands of patients over the years with sleep disorders. In fact, part of our testing to become sleep professionals included knowing about the sleep in other animals! Prior to that, I was a middle school science teacher for 10 years and currently homeschool my 15-year-old daughter. I have my Bachelors in Biology and my Masters in Healthcare Administration.
