30 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
US Grade 1 - 3
In this on-going social club, we will learn about and discuss different science-related topics, such as: animals, space, dinosaurs, and nature! Each week the topic is a SURPRISE! Students are encouraged to share comments and ask questions, but never directly asked to do so. The students participate at the level they feel comfortable with, without pressure. This is a great class for students needing some extra socialization and practice with their conventional English. Students will get the opportunity to do both while learning about an interesting new topic each week. Students can expect LOTS of LEARNING and DISCUSSION, with some imagery, descriptive slides, and/or short videos clips to add to our discussions. Laughter is also a regular part of this class - we have FUN! Again, students can participate as much or as little as they like in the class. Participation is never forced. Some students like to actively share and discuss and others like to sit back and listen. Examples of past topics include: Mosasaurs, Animals That Have Gone Extinct; Polar Bears, Solar Eclipses, Dinosaur Extinction Theories, Tornadoes, Colonizing Mars, Giraffes, Army Ants, and many, many, more interesting topics! Weekly topics are not provided in advance because each week the topic is a SURPRISE for the students and they are provided with a clue at the start of each class to try to guess the topic, which the students always enjoy doing. I often hear from the students how excited they are each week to be surprised by our weekly topic. The topics are always very interesting! No prior learning experience is required for this ongoing course - only a love for science and nature!
