The students do not get assessed in a regular way; they know they are making great story progress when they hit certain milestones in the game, find out a lot of information, or defeat enough conflicts to level up their characters. By the end of this campaign, their characters will reach level 19.Class Experience

Advanced Level
Hi! This class is going to be structured in the same away that a Dungeons and Dragons campaign is ran; our first session together will be setting the scene of the story and quests they need to take care, learning how they want to play the game, and get the students familiar with each other and their game characters they are playing. From that point forward, the students will work together to decide on what to do next; will they go chase down a group of people trying to steal a magical crystal, destroy a beacon necessary for the ritual, or go and try to negotiate peace terms with a group that can be potential. With teaching the game, comes many opportunities for your student to ask questions; how does this spell work? Will the ability be helpful in this scene? Can we talk to each other before doing the activity? Not only are they encouraged to ask questions in my class, they are also encouraged to communicate with each other to come up with plans on how to handle the various situations that come up in a multi-week campaign. They also get to stretch their imaginations but also thinking and acting in character as well; what does your character say? What do they think? How would they act if this creature came running toward them? With these kinds of questions, the students then have to look at the character they made, the items they have, and the abilities they have to know what the character can and cannot do. Please see the general schedule of how each week will look like for your child and an overview of the story as well. Your child will need a level 16 character to participate as there is much more in depth threats and elements to this campaign. Other Details
Parental Guidance
This is a game where students may have to have their characters fight with creatures and other enemies, much like any other video game or game in general. I am very careful to ensure descriptions are not too in-depth and often encourage the students to describe things in a way that is comfortable for them. It is only a game though, no real life violence or danger is present during this game.
Supply List
A level 16 character, a way to roll dice (physically or virtually), and if they want to take notes- a way to do so!
Language of Instruction
English
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Sources
We will be referring to The Rise of Tiamat campaign book throughout the class, but most of this class will be created freely from the book (homebrewed), so if students read the adventure or know of it, it will be quite different than what is written.
Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Violet Wallace and I teach a variety of subjects and topics from debate and persuasion to character building, and even Dungeons and Dragons! When it comes to my teaching career, I have taught full time for 3 years now; one year in Canada in Adult Education teaching English Language Arts and Computer Studies and two years in the UK covering subjects from English Language Arts, Religious Studies, Photography, French, Spanish, and a bit of Biology! I believe that teachers need to be passionate about what they teach, caring and understanding to their students, and to be the best mentors/support systems they can be for their students. Progress is important and if we are having fun while being challenged along the way, a lot of growth will happen naturally in the classroom. I also have a pet cat named Wasabi who may make the occasional appearance in class!
