Class Experience
In this class, you will learn about one of the Renaissance's greatest musical composers - Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina. We will discuss Palestrina's life and musical career, as well as how his compositions exemplify musical characteristics of the Renaissance time period of music history. Class will feature a mixture of teacher lecture, listening examples, class discussion, question and answer sessions, and study guide handouts. Class time will generally be broken down into the...
Students will learn about the life and career of Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, one of the Renaissance's greatest composers. Additionally, students will learn about the musical and stylistic characteristics of the Renaissance and specific works by Palestrina that exemplify these characteristics.
No homework is assigned. I do provide a suggested playlist for each composer in case you are interested in listening to more of their music.
I will provide any materials that will be needed for this class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
