Part Four of Four. Are you a teenage mutant ninja turtle fan? Do you love protecting New York city and training with Splinter? Do you love pizza? I do too. But who were these turtles named after? We all know Leo, Mikey, Donnie, and Ralph but do you remember their full names? Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael? Our turtle heroes are named after renaissance heroes. Are you ready to learn more about the men our heroes are named after? Let's see if they share any similarities other than the name? Using lecture and discussion students will learn about the Ninja Turtle Michelangelo and the Renaissance hero he was named after. Students will see artwork by Michelangelo, learn from first-hand accounts about the artist, discuss personality similarities and differences while seeing works of art from this historic period of time. I try to make history come alive using visual images and discussion. If students can find a connection they are passionate about we can learn together. I encourage students to teach me about our turtle friends while I teach them about artists. Together we find similarities between them.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about artist Michelangelo. We will learn from first-hand accounts and history texts about the type of man he was, the artwork he created, and his influence on history.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello,
I'm an art historian based out of Kansas. I've always loved art and I want to help you develop a passion for art and history. I've taught for five years everything from preschool to college, and I love to share knowledge. I believe learning should be fun and an open conversation with no limits. I want to help history come alive and become more memorable. I like to overwhelm my classes with facts, tips, tricks, and information. I firmly believe students will take what interests them and learn more. Leaving behind the things that didn't grab them, but its left waiting if they need it.
Please inquire about scheduling or topic requests. I love to learn what students are interested in.
I have a background in Indigenous studies and would love to connect with you directly.
