In this ongoing Reading Comprehension class, learners will read both fiction and non-fiction high-interest texts. Learners will learn various reading strategies like(Identifying the Main Idea, Predicting, Visualizing, Summarizing, Using Key Words, etc.) and use them to complete a variety of comprehension activities. The texts will be teacher written. Each of the classes is a stand-alone lesson and students may join or leave the class at any time. Each class will follow the following format: 1. Greetings. 2. Read Text(students will read aloud if they wish). 3. Comprehension Activities(This will be a combination of teacher modelling and student practice). 4. Review of strategy or strategies. 5. Goodbyes. *This class will continue for the school year. Students will learn and practice a variety of reading strategies to move them from LEARNING TO READ to READING TO LEARN using high-interest texts.

Supply List
A handout will be required for each class. They will be posted each week in the classroom. Learners should also have the following materials available each week: -pencil and eraser -scissors and a glue stick -highlighter -colored pencils, crayons and/ or markers

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I have a strong foundation in Art Education and love to teach lessons that mesh the Fundamentals of Art with the pure joy of creating something.
