Class Experience

I'm experienced professional craft project designer, classroom volunteer, community leader, state park docent, summer school instructor, and mom. I am personally LGBTQ+ and ordained non-denominational clergy (1999, House of Life, San Jose, CA), which means I have had many hours of training in active listening, conflict resolution, counseling, and helping people of all ages in crisis.
- Week of May 9: Color blending experiments - Watercolor or Bristol paper; watercolors, gouache, or thinned acrylic paints; palette if needed; wide paint brush; water container; paper towels
- Week of May 16: Figure and life drawing techniques - Drawing supplies of the learner's choice
- Week of May 23: Adjustable-length bead necklace - Length of leather or thick waxed cotton cord; large-hole beads that the cord fits through; scissors heavy enough to cut the cord
- Week of May 30: Paper plate pride shield - Heavy paper plate (like Chinet); acrylic craft paints; painting supplies (brushes, jar of water, paint pallet, paper towels, etc); strip of heavy fabric or plastic shopping bag for the handle; stapler
- Week of June 6: Pride friendship bead pins - Safety pins; seed beads in pride flag colors
- Week of June 13: Painted jar pencil cup - Medium size glass jar (about the size of a coffee mug); acrylic craft paints; painting supplies (brushes, jar of water, paint pallet, paper towels, etc)
- Week of June 20: Crystal suncatcher string - Suncatcher crystal or large faceted glass bead; assorted glass beads about 1 cm in size; beading wire (like Beadalon, Tiger Tail, etc); crimp beads; flat pliers
- Week of June 27: Recycled paper beads - Colorful magazine or catalog pages; coffee stir straws (hollow plastic); tape; scissors; white glue
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
As this is a crafts class, there will sometimes be a need for small hand tools such as a drill, utility knife, hammer, scissors, etc.
