The purpose of this course is to help students become independent, strong, and confident learners. The Question and Answer System for taking notes and for studying has been proven to be an effective system for significantly enhanced learners. Why? By creating questions during class sessions and before reading, students improve their critical thinking skills as they will be "forced" to question (to think differently, to actively learn) what they are learning. By creating questions in these cases, students will be more attentive to read; they will read with a purpose as they will need to actively look for answers to their questions; they will be more confident as they will have improved learning of course concepts, and they will be better prepared for quizzes and tests as this system provides students with a structured system to review for assessments, AND it offers them a chance to predict test questions (their own questions could be on assessments!). In the syllabus, I explain the purpose of the Q and A system, how it is used both in the classroom and on your own, how it impacts learning, and how it helps effectively prepare students for quizzes or tests. Students can use the handout to help them use the system. There is no required knowledge for this course. I have helped thousands of college students use this technique to SIGNIFICANTLY enhance their learning potential. The Q and A system allows students to shift from passive learning to active learning-effectively enhancing their focus and attention on course concepts as well as their long-term retention of these concepts. Using this technique will help you or your child become a more confident learner and a stronger test-taker-GUARANTEED!
