You are faced with making decisions every day, whether they are routine or planned. Learn how to make decisions with more confidence using the 6 Step approach to decision making. In this course we will: *Discuss the importance of developing your decision-making skills. *Identify steps in the decision-making process. *Discuss the role of values when making decisions. *Practice using the decision-making process. To practice the decision-making process, we will discuss 2 different scenarios. In the first scenario the class will work together following each step in the process to make a decision. The second scenario, students will be paired/grouped together in the breakout room in the zoom platform to work through the decision making process. After coming to a decision, the students will come back together as a class to discuss the process they took and tell of the decision they made. Students will be sent, via the Outschool classroom, 2 handouts. 1 to be printed before class begins. This handout will allow the students to take notes on the 6-step approach to decision making. They will use this as a reference during class. The second they will need to have opened on their computer to use during class time. This one list the problem examples we will be working on in class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
West Virginia Teaching Certificate
Hi Everyone. Welcome to Outschool. My name is Karen and I’m excited to be able to bring my love of teaching online.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Fairmont State University in West Virginia. For 10 years I educated students in Family and Consumer Sciences. I love teaching FACS courses because they help students to develop the essential life skills and knowledge to lead their best lives. It also offers students education to career pathways in:
Education and Training
Human Services
Interior design
Foods and Nutrition
Child and Family Development
In addition to Family and Consumer Science I am certified to teach Safety and Drivers Education, PreK – 5th grade and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). A love of mine is traveling, but not just traveling, having lived in 10 different states, I have immersed myself into the culture of the areas and discovered how each state has a uniqueness all their own. I hope to also share my passion for travel and what makes each state one of a kind.
My teaching style is what I call “structured fun”. When teaching my students about how to educate Preschool children we discuss about how they learn through play. I don’t believe that should just apply to Pre-Schoolers. My classes include a lot of interaction through discussions, games, projects, and fun quizzes.
Hope to see you in my class ready to learn, interact, and have fun!
