In this class we will take a look a the lives and impact of each of the U.S. Presidents, discussing everything from - -George Washington's love of dogs and letter writing, becoming an international military rock star at the age of 22, to why he felt unprepared for the role of president and why he made the decisions that he did. -What was Herbert Hoovers life like before becoming president? What role did he play in the Boxer Rebellion? Why did he decide to name what we call the Great Depression a "depression" instead of a panic, as it had always been named before? - What was JFK's childhood like? How did he turn an insult into a popular college club that everyone wanted to join? How did he use the television to defeat Nixon? What happened that day in Dallas? This is a discussion based course. I do lecture (through shared powerpoint) during the 45 minute class, but I encourage open discussion and questions throughout. I love the chat box and encourage students to utilize that for participation. This is a subscription class, which means each week is an independent class. You pay for each week that you would like to join. You can pay for each week that you choose to attend class. There is no start or end date, so feel free to come and go as your schedule dictates. 2024 Week of June 17 James Buchanan June 24 Abraham Lincoln July 1 NO CLASS July 8 NO CLASS July 15 Andrew Johnson July 22 Ulysses S Grant July 29 Rutherford B Hayes/James Garfield August 5 Chester Arthur/Benjamin Harrison August 12 Grover Cleveland/William McKinley August 19 NO CLASS August 26 History of the Secret Service September 2 Theodore Roosevelt September 9 William Howard Taft September 16 Woodrow Wilson September 23 NO CLASS September 30 Warren G Harding October 7 Calvin Coolidge October 14 Herbert Hoover October 21 Franklin D.
