Description
Class Experience
Over the last 30 years, I've been helping people all over the world consider and contribute kindness to their communities, defining kindness as: - Doing something helpful without expectation of an award. In this class, one of ten Outschool classes I've created on leadership skills (each class works as a stand-alone), the students will be provided the opportunity to fine-tune their kindness awareness "muscle," both by sharing acts of kindness and positivity of which they are aware and by...
The teacher has been certified to teach in Washington State since 1990 (including endorsements in special education from preschool through high school) and has taught in multiple settings. In 1984 at age 21, he was named Big Brother of the Year in King County, the most populous county in Washington, for his volunteer work with a 3rd-grade boy. He has taught leadership classes throughout his career and serves as a mentor to children and adults who want to hone their leadership abilities. He has a knack for engaging children who, having worked with Andy, feel consistently respected and buoyed by these interactions.
Since how students complete each kindness theme is up to them, the supplies they need will be up to them. As an example, if they want to do something like make a card, they will need art supplies. None of the themes require specific supplies.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
25 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
