Get ready to "climb aboard" everyone's favorite Christmas train with the beloved story, The Polar Express. Join this one time class for an experience your child will love as he/she enjoys a fun and exciting story time full of smiles, sweets, and songs! If you do not see a day/time that works for you, please let me know and I'll work my best to set up a class to meet your request! Polar Express Experience: Bring along our imaginative as we begin our class with a "ticket call". We will get our virtual train moving with a meet and greet to all of our riders! Children are encouraged (but not required) to wear their pajamas and bring along a tasty drink, such as hot chocolate. We will then make our tasty train treat together. Please see note below about food/allergies. After our snack craft time, the train will be ready to take off and I'll be sharing the beloved book, The Polar Express. During the read aloud, your child will be enjoying their tasty treat and interacting and engaging with the story and other students. I love to capture their attention with a very enthusiastic and active reading style. It helps to make the reading experience come alive when your child is part of the story! We will conclude with a directed drawing as we listen to some holiday music. Your learner may want to sing along as we create a polar express picture to culminate our time together. As we draw, we will hear classic songs like Jingle Bells (children may bring bells, bell necklace, etc. if they wish), Santa Claus is Coming to Town, and Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. I will also share a link with many Polar Express activity ideas, crafts, and recipes for you to enjoy with your child after the class. I will also provide a photo frame template that can be used to color and attach a photo of your child. Please note: it works best to print on cardstock but you can also print it on regular paper. So hop on board our virtual Polar Express and celebrate the spirit of Christmas!

Teacher expertise and credentials
I believe in sharing the joy of reading and love to help cultivate that in young readers. The best part about books is sharing them with others and I definitely love to use my animated and enthusiastic reading style to make the stories come alive!
Having taught over 18 years in the classroom before transitioning to the library, I know which books are "kid-approved" and this story is one which is a true holiday classic. I love to share books and connect them to movies so if interested, share the movie with your child after hearing the story (if your child hasn't seen the movie already). Drawing on my experience as an elementary school librarian, I always work to create a read aloud that is an interactive and engaging experience for all. I can't wait to share this story with your child as I sprinkle in lots of holiday joy! Your child will be drawn into the magic and wonder of Van Allsburg's timeless story.
