US Grade 2 - 4
This one-time class is for fearless Pokémon trainers who want to share their admiration for their favorite Pokémon character and learn how to write a descriptive paragraph. The descriptive paragraph is mostly used in descriptive essays to describe something in detail to the reader. This kind of paragraph can easily deviate from the writing standards because it is considered to be an artistic structure. We will discuss the power of synonyms, adjectives, and adverbs. We'll explore descriptions that relate to the human senses (touch, sight, hearing, smell and taste). The teacher will have motivating writing prompts, colorful slides and will challenge the students to conjure up imaginative words and phrases. We will use the 4-Square method to learn how to organize our ideas. Creative writing has never been more Pok-e-tic... or fun!! I encourage student output and ideas. My strategy is to engage students to make their own discoveries. “Boring” doesn’t have a place in my classroom. Class will be canceled if a 3-writer minimum isn't met. Please refer to Outschool's policies for refunds.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to hunt for descriptive words, write complete sentences and construct a descriptive paragraph about a favorite Pokémon character using the 4-Square method.
