In this 4-class online course, students will review the basics of blues improvisation they have learned so far and will learn new blues improvisation skills as determined by each individual learner.

Description

Class Experience

Growing up, I would have given anything for blues piano lessons. I am grateful for my years of traditional piano instruction, but my creative side yearned to jam like the greats. 
In this course, I will pass on my love for blues improvisation. It is a learner-directed class. It will start with a review of the skills learned in the previous level. During this review, I will individually assess each student to provide learner-directed, differentiated lessons.

The learning goals will be directed by the specific needs and skills demonstrated by each individual learner.

I have a bachelor's degree in Music Education from SUNY Fredonia, a master’s degree of Kodály in Music Education from Loyola University Maryland, and 10+ years experience of Blues/Boogie Woogie improvisation on the piano. I'm incredibly passionate about passing on what I've learned about piano improvisation to students, as I wish I had more access to high quality improvisation instruction when I was younger.

Students will need a keyboard or a piano. It is recommended to point the camera at the keys if possible.

20 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
