US Grade 6 - 9
This class is Part 2 of the periodic table. Learners will discover how to use the periodic table to make predictions and behaviors of elements! The class is intended for learners who have completed Part 1 or have previous other classes on the periodic table. For Part 1 please enroll using this link: https://outschool.com/classes/the-periodic-table-master-the-secret-code-chemistry-part-1-UHiEnmAF#usdhHJVcJ1 Learners will discover how and why the periodic table is set up and how to use it to predict elemental properties. Once understood students can more easily navigate the table and other important areas of chemistry. Topics covered: -Location of element groups -Periodic Trends: Atomic radius, Ionization energy, electron negativity, & Ionic size, -Predict the charge of an ion.
Learning Goals
Students will gain a MUCH greater understanding of the periodic table, with the hope that they can master using this tool. Understanding how to use this tool will increase their ability to master other chemistry concepts.

I am a middle school and high school math and science teacher with 10+ years of experience. Additionally, I am a homeschooling dad of 15+years who has four kids that are four different types of learners.
I have the privilege to teach many subject areas, but biology & chemistry are my favorite as they applies to all other areas of science. My opinion is that if a student understands the these major concepts, other sciences become more clear.
I am an avid gardener and enjoy building things with my hands. Best part in my own lifelong learning process is when things don't go as planned. That, for me, is when curiosity and learning takes place.
I hold a MS and BS in the natural sciences.
