Students will be able to complete a well-supported analytical essay in six sessions. Each learner will focus on crafting a specific, arguable thesis and supporting that thesis with text-based evidence.
I have been teaching analytical writing both in the secondary and collegiate level for 16 years. I have found that most students lack the ability to write well because they have never had explicit instruction in writing a cohesive essay. I provide a strong framework for the essay and show students how to follow the steps to write analytically.
Students will receive teacher-created handouts and rubrics.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
