The Penderwicks series by Jeanne Birdsall is my all-time favourite book series! I have read the whole series and some of the books I have re-read a few times: therefore, I am the perfect person to do a book club for this book because I can share my love of this book and author with others.
Homework Offered
Students will be expected to read the book (or if they have read the book in the past, then to skim through the chapters that will be discussed each week; or even listen to the book on audio). Students should participate in the drawings assignments and be ready to participate in class.2 - 4 hours per week outside of class

This book discusses the feelings a girl had because of the death of her best friend, a dog, and also discusses how years later a teenager was still grieving the loss of her mother, whom she thought the death was her sister's fault when it wasn't. This book also focuses on a mixed family of two single parents who got married in the 2nd book. Another big topic is how it's okay if someone likes you and you don't like them back in the same way and just want to stay friends.
