My name is Detective Kitty Kat Meow McFluffy and I run The Kitty Kat Detective Agency International. In this 4 week interactive, fun class students (Kittens) will join The Kitty Kat Detective Agency International Training Academy and learn the math(s) skills they need to be a Kitty Kat Detective and help me solve mysteries inspired by The Owl and The Pussy Cat poem by Edward Lear. The classes will start with the Kitty Kat Detective greeting and a warm up to make sure our Kitty Kat senses are sharp and ready to solve the day's mystery. I will then introduce the maths theme for the lesson. Week 1 Kittens will use their maths skills to help me find Owl before the Pea Green Boat departs. Week 2 Takes us on a maths adventure around the world for a year and a day as Kittens help me search for the island where the Bong Tree grows. Week 3 So little time and so much to do... Kittens will use math (s) to help me bake a cake and find a ring in preparation for my wedding to Owl next week. Week 4 The big day is here and all the Kittens are invited. Join me and the rest of my guests on the trek up the hill to find the Turkey. We will end the session with a party where we will celebrate our wedding and all the Kitten Detectives achievements and we will dance to the light of the moon. Kittens will gain certificates for helping to solve mysteries. There will be individual and group tasks set and students will share their answers with the group. I welcome complete maths beginners alongside students who are confident in basic addition, subtraction and times tables.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their confidence in basic number skills including counting to 100, numberbonds to 10, addition and subtraction with objects to 20, the 2, 5 and 10 times tables, and understand maths vocabulary including double and half.
