Recommended Prerequisite class- "The Organized Student: Planners 101" This class is an ongoing Club for students that want to be more organized, it is an extension of the prerequisite class. The focus of the club will be using a student planner to keep track of student life. This includes class schedules, assignments, events, tests, goals, and more. We will share and discuss ideas, tips, encouragement and fun during each meeting. We will also brainstorm for new ways to stay organized. Some meetings will have new planner pages to print out before the meeting starts for the students to try out. Students will learn ways of creating their own custom pages to use in their planner. Students and I will share our planner layouts and styles to inspire and encourage each other. All planner types are welcome, however my preferred planners are the disc bound planners by "Happy Planner."
Learning Goals
Students will gain the skills to live an organized life using a custom planner, while having fun and making friends.

Hello, my name is Shanin Hamilton. I am a mom of 3 kids 29, 27, and 18. I have lived on a small, hobby farm most of my life, since 1980, and we have had almost all of the different farm animals at some point. I homeschooled my oldest two kids from primary school thru high school graduation, greatest experience ever! I was a Girl Scout Leader for almost 20 years and have led hundreds of girls and other Leaders. I am also a trained K-8 teacher and have worked with students from 2 years old to 18 years old in both regular education and special education.
I have a Bachelor of Art in K-8 Interdisciplinary Studies. I have worked with students, ages 2 - 18, in multiple different settings including public schools, private daycares, Girl Scouts, and homeschooling my own children from primary school through high school graduation. I have worked as a Teachers' Aid in a 6-8th grade building in all core classes including 6-8th grade math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geography, Civics, Life Science, and ELA. As a Teacher's Aid, my job was to pull small groups of students and reteach the concepts that were taught by the teacher, but in a easier to understand way for the students that struggled with the concepts. I also worked closely with the teachers to develop class curriculum for both the whole class and for struggling learners. I have over 10 years of experience working with children with both special learning and behavioral needs in a public classroom setting.
My style of teaching is being flexible and fun. That means I let the students’ enthusiasm in the subject drive the lessons, because I believe that kids learn best when they enjoy the topic and can be engaged. I use lots of pictures, slides, games, and student driven discussions.
The classes that I offer are the core math, science, and language arts as well as some creative writing, online tools and organization classes.
I hope to see you, or your child, in my classroom soon! Have a marvelous day.
